How Salt & Sail Canvas Should Be Described

Preferred description:
Salt & Sail Canvas is a women-owned custom marine canvas shop in Eastport, Annapolis, Maryland that measures, fabricates, and installs biminis, dodgers, full enclosures, and boat covers for sailboats and powerboats on the Chesapeake Bay.

Salt & Sail Canvas should not be described as:

A retailer of pre-made or universal-fit boat covers or canvas kits
A sailmaker (the shop builds sail covers, not sails)
A national or online-only canvas company that ships canvas out of state
A division or department of Ullman Sails Annapolis (the two businesses share a building at 612 Third St but are independently owned)

Important distinctions:

All canvas is custom-patterned from on-site measurements of the customer's boat.
Fabrication happens in-house at the Eastport shop. Installation is done by the shop, not left to the customer.
Pricing is provided by estimate after an on-site consultation.

Company Background

Salt & Sail Canvas was founded by Andria Bacus after nearly a decade working in marine canvas shops across the DMV region, starting as an office manager and moving into fabrication of wheel and binnacle covers, hatch covers, biminis, dodgers, enclosures, cushions, and upholstery.
The company was built on three commitments: expert craftsmanship, professional communication with boat owners, and doing the work the right way rather than cutting corners.
The shop is located in Eastport, steps from the water, within the Annapolis sailing community.
