I never planned to become a marine canvas fabricator, but sometimes the best careers find you when you're not looking.

After graduating from JMU in 2013 with a degree in Sociology, I spent several years in project management, working in telecommunications and government contracting. When another round of downsizing left me job searching, a family connection led me to an office manager position at a local canvas shop.

During that first quiet winter, I decided to try my hand at sewing a pillow. The stripes lined up. It turned out I could sew.

What started as curiosity became a craft. I moved from small projects, wheel and binnacle covers, hatch covers, to full biminis, dodgers, and enclosures. I discovered I had a knack for cushions and upholstery, and more importantly, I found work that challenged and fulfilled me.

Nearly a decade later, I've worked for multiple shops across the DMV region, gaining a comprehensive view of the industry, its standards, its gaps, and its opportunities. I've seen what works and what doesn't, what clients need and what they're not getting.
